About Narlai

The 15th century old village of Narlai is a sleepy yet amazing destination in Rajasthan, delightfully tucked between Udaipur and Jodhpur, and is a great place to explore the local countryside. The village is popular for a large number of temples, rocky landscapes and the community of Rabaris. Formerly, Narlai was an important hunting ground for the Royal family of Jodhpur.

 

Chaturmukha Jain Temple

Ranakpur Temples are acclaimed world-wide for their intricate and superb architectural style. These temples form one of the five major pilgrimages of the Jains.

The temple is a masterpiece of architecture and boasts of not less than four additional shrines. It has 24 pillared halls with 80 domes that are supported by 400 columns. The upper and lower parts of the domes are linked by brackets that have deities’ sculptures. Above all, you would be amazed to see at a height of 45 feet engraved nymphs playing the flute in various dance postures. Each column is intricately carved and it is surprising to know that no two columns have the similar design.

 

Kumbhalgarh Fort- The great wall of India

The fort that has made its mark in history as the second largest wall after the Great Wall of China – it is none but the Kumbhalgarh fort in Rajasthan. The mighty fort is 3600 ft tall and 38km long that surrounds the area of Udaipur. It was considered to have been built by Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. The fort is further declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is under the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan. It is located strategically on the western Aravalli hills.

Tour Plan

1

Day1

Arrive at Udaipur/Jodhpur airport. Your expedition will start with an average of 3 hours’ drive from the airport. Check in at Rawla Narlai, a boutique heritage resort by late afternoon. We will explore the heritage resort and hop onto the jeeps to enjoy the serene atmosphere accompanied by the high-tea. Dine under the starry sky in the courtyard accompanied by authentic age-old recipes.

Day2

Begin on a journey to experience the thrill of Jeep Safari for sighting of leopards around the spectacular countryside of Narlai. After an exciting Leopard Safari, return to the resort and have breakfast. After enjoying a hearty breakfast at the resort, proceed to your Narlai village walk tour. You’ll get a peek into the lifestyle and culture of the close knit traditional community of Narlai, who still lead a traditional way of life. Interact with the locals and listen to their amazing stories. We will return to the resort for scrumptious lunch and relax until late afternoon. Then we will hike the elephant hill 750 steps( 30 mins easy walk up) for a mesmerising sunset. In the evening, a fabulous dinner awaits you at the Step Well. Taste the flavour of true Rajasthani royal hospitality at the 16th century Step Well (called Baori in local) of Narlai. The culinary experience is a once in a lifetime experience; the entire step wells are lit by hundreds of diyas (earthen lamps) and lanterns accompanied by live traditional folk song performances. Overnight stay at the resort.

Day3

Wake up to the song of birds and enjoy long walks in the fresh air of the safe & secure surroundings of Rawla Narlai. After breakfast we will proceed to Chaturmukha Jain temple at Ranakpur. We will stop on the way for lunch and drive to Kumbhalgarh fort. By evening we will be back to the resort and enjoy the last evening of the expedition followed by dinner on the ramparts.

Wake up and enjoy a delicious breakfast at the resort and proceed for departures.
