About the expedition

Dhora means ‘sand dunes’ and Garh means ‘fort’. We are back with our expedition to explore lesser known deserts and forts of Rajasthan.

 

Khimsar

Perched on the edge on the great Thar Desert in the heart of rural India, the unique fort at Khimsar offers a wide range of experiences. The battle-scarred walls and turrets remind one of the glorious past of this place.

 

Nagaur Fort

This 2th century fortress is famous for its large campus and high walls.Nagaur fort has three entrance doors. First one was made of iron and wood spikes to guard against elephant charges and enemy attacks. ‘Beech Ka Pol’ is the second entrance and the last one is ‘Kacheri Pol Nagaur fort is such a big fort that it has many palaces, fountains, temples, and beautiful gardens inside and visitors just vows by seeing it.

 

Osian desert village

Osian (Osiyan) is an ancient town located in the Jodhpur District of Rajasthan. It is an oasis in the Thar Desert, and is also called as the “Khajuraho of Rajasthan” for its beautiful temples of both Jain and Hindu religion.
Osian is an important Jain pilgrimage centre for the Maheshwari’s and Oswal Jain community.

 

Chandelao

Chandelao is a secluded wonderland that’s for everyone and anyone who seeks peace and solace. This hamlet is far or even ages away from the tentacles of technology. So, rest assured that you will be able to go on a complete digital detox on this journey. Gorging on scrumptious homemade food, sleeping and lounging on period furniture and enjoying the company of parrots and peacocks will be a regular aspect of your stay here.

 

Pipar Town

Roll call for all the shopaholics out there!
Are you a textile enthusiast? Then it’s only right to wander the streets of Chandelao to visit the cultural paradise – Pipar/Pipad Bazaar.
Pipar and its people are full of life, and you will see the essence of it in their vibrant prints as well. Do you know that each piece that is crafted here is handmade and unique?

 

Bishnoi Village

No trip in Rajasthan is completed without a visit to the Bishnoi Villages. Bishnoi Village in Rajasthan is a destination where time and space became one entity and refused to move ahead. Although the village co-exists with us, it does live back in time. However, that never became a hurdle in its pursuit of introducing the world to an authentic Rajasthani lifestyle and spreading happiness.

Tour Plan

1

Day1

Arrive at Jodhpur airport. Transfer to Khimsar Dunes Village. (2 hours approx.) Lunch at the resort. We will experience the sunset camel ride on the dunes of Khimsar. Dinner at the resort.

Day2

Start your day with a walk in the dunes followed by a hearty breakfast. We will visit 2nd century fortress Nagaur fort. After lunch, we will go explore Osian village and will experience the jeep desert safaris with the high tea. Dinner at the dunes.

Day3

After breakfast we will leave for another offbeat location Chandelao. (2.5 hours) After lunch, we will visit the town of Pipar to see it's colourful bazar and visit a block printing factory where you see dying and printing of textiles with natural colours. We will have hands on block printing workshop organised for our group. Dinner at the resort.

Day4

Morning we will start our day at the beautiful Olvi lake where we can witness migratory birds. Breakfast at the homestay. Afternoon you can relax until lunch time. After lunch we will do Bishnoi Village safari to see the traditional life of the Bishnoi people said to be the first envoirmentalist of the world. You get a chance to meet and interact with them ,also see the bluck buck antelopes roaming freely protected by these Bishnoi people. Later in evening, we will have a Sundowner trip by a camel cart and BBQ dinner in the wilderness.

Day5

Wake up and enjoy delicious breakfast at the resort and proceed for departures. (1 hour to Jodhpur airport)

ITC Khimsar dunes village

Rustic in appearance, in consonance with the surroundings, these luxurious huts have been deliberately designed to be eco-friendly. Come savour the tranquility of the Thar desert in all its majesty! The mini-lake that appears out of nowhere seems to be just a mirage. Isn’t it actually an oasis? Take in a golden sunrise or a colourful sunset amidst golden sands- even as you sip your cuppa! Down a sundowner, followed by a meal around a bonfire- as million of stars blink benevolently down at you. Fortunately, access is only by jeep, camel or horseback. It is truly remote, rural and romantic !”

 

Chandelao Garh || Village Homestay

Majestic Chandelao Garh is the ancestral home of the landowners of the area, and has been tastefully converted to a modern hotel. But do not expect telephones and televisions - the Garh will provide you with an authentic experience of traditional Rajasthani hospitality in a tranquil village setting.

        • Cancellation for an event will be considered via a written mail to

        • The date of the mail would be considered for the calculation of the cancellation fee.

      REFUND POLICY:

        • 30% fee to be refunded if cancellation is made between 30-15 days before the event.
        • No refund if cancellation is made between 0-15 days of the event.
